Explanatory Note

First Schedule to the British Nationality Act 1981 (Consequential Amendments) Bill 1982

When this Bill was first issued to Members for

consideration on 30 September 1982, the substitution

proposed to be made in items 6, 7, 8 and 11 of the

First Schedule was "British citizen, a British Dependent

Territories citizen or a British Overseas citizen"

(or the plural thereof, as appropriate).

2.

On further consideration, as these items now show,

the proposed substitution is "Commonwealth citizen (s)"

consistently with all other substitutions of "British

subject" in the First Schedule.
