NOTES

Plan No. LM/150 - At the north-western end of the actual approach area to the Runway, amendments have had to be made which will limit building works in part of Kowloon Tong and Kowloon Tsai vis-a-vis the present restriction of 45.5 metres above Principal Datum imposed by, the 1957 Order. The proposed height restrictions recommended are shown on Plan No. LM/150 and are required as a result of the installation of a localizer and glide path approach guidance system, the localizer element of which is 36 metres above Principal Datum in Kowloon Tsai Park. A number of existing buildings are affected by the proposals but they can be exempted in due course as trials and operational experience have demonstrated that the integrity of the guidance system is not affected by their

presence.

Note

-

Minor amendments have been made to the existing restrictions in order to align the boundaries between various height restrictions along major streets or divisions between land use planning zones.

The recommended restriction in these areas is that no building should protrude above a line. drawn 5° below the horizontal from a centre point identified on the plan by means of longitude and latitude, the lower height pertaining where there is an overlap of areas. The restrictions are necessary to safeguard radiation patterns of radar, navigation, and communication transmitters and receivers, and are based on manufacturers' recommendations.

Beacon Hill

The area covers the radar installation at Beacon Hill and although this is situated within the New Territories, the proposed restriction affects land within the urban area. It is recommended that the inverted cone restriction, as for Victoria Peak, Mount Kellett, etc., or any existing overlapping restriction which is lover be imposed, and existing buildings be exempted in due course.
