Following your meeting with him on 11 May, Mr Pym had a further session with officials on 2 June. One point considered was how the problem might best be taken forward with the Prime Minister. Mr Pym thought that the best way might be to arrange for a farewell call by you, in which you could on your own broach some of the issues.
Soundings across the road suggest that such a call might be feasible during the second half of June, but no precise date is yet proposed. The purpose of this letter is to ask if you would be willing to come back to London for this and, if so, when would suit you best. I am sorry that this might mean your coming back briefly from a well-earned rest and leave, but I should be grateful to know what you think.
