Sir Jack Cater, Hong Kong Commissioner in London will be attending this Conference as a panellist available to answer questions. Questions about the future of Hong Kong are inevitable.

2. He has asked whether we could provide him with some thoughts on the question of support for the Hong Kong dollar and the possible dangers of a slide in its value.

He will probably come in for a general meeting with us prior to the Conference. Anything you could let us have on points in paragraph 2 above would be appreciated.
