GUANGDONG NUCLEAR PROJECT: VISIT OF LORD BELSTEAD TO HONG KONG

Further to our telephone conversation yesterday on the above subject, I attach a backgound note on the above project. Following the completion of the Chinese delegation's visit to this country I will let you have a short note detailing the outcome of the discussions on the project.

The line to take that we would propose for Lord Belstead in any discussions on the project is;

"I am aware of the discussions in London with Vice Minister Li Peng, but have not been informed yet of their outcome.
