May I thank you and Mr Henry very much indeed for the briefing you gave me on 10 December and for arranging my visit up to the border at Sha Tau Kok. It was fascinating to see on the ground the problem which you face at the frontier with China, and the way you are coping.
I went on to Brunei, where your own visit with General Stanier was very much in my mind when the subject of Gurkhas came up with the Sultan.
Please may I send my thanks through you to all those involved during my visit on 10 December.
With all good wishes for 1783
Yours sincerely,
HD
