I was most grateful to you and your colleagues
for the very informative briefing you so kindly gave me on Thursday 9 December during my visit to Hong Kong. Given the magnitude of the problem you face, and the extraordinarily successful way in which you seem to be meeting that challenge, I have come away deeply impressed with the way in which Hong Kong has developed techniques for new town development. I am so glad that this formed part of my programme during my first visit to Hong Kong, because housing policy is quite clearly an essential and central part of Hong Kong government life.
Thank you very much. I wish you and all your colleagues luck in completing the task you have started.
Your sincerity,
Belstead.
The Honourable Donald P H Liao
Secretary of Housing
HONG KONG GOVERNMENT
(BELSTEAD)
