The present situation. The present problems affecting delivery of health care including recent population increases and the rising demand for virtually free health services were explained together with the measures taken to meet them. The implications of the very rapid expansion on staffing, building and equipment needs and the measures to provide the necessary staff in particular were also explained.

The future development, planning and the imple- mentation of the Medical & Health Services. Future plans for expansion of hospital and clinic services, the regionalisation of the department and the increase in training facilities to improve the quality and quantity

of the health services were discussed.

The discussion ended around 14.45 hours when the Lord Privy Seal thanked the DMHS and his staff and expressed his appreciation. He said he was most impressed with the work being done and has since followed this up with a personal note to Dr. Thong. After the discussion the party was taken for a short tour of the Casualty Department, Q.E.H. before departing from the hospital.
