discussions each time confirm that we have a
wide range of mutual interest and perceptions
and I hope that we can maintain and
increase by means of visits, exchanges and
normal diplomatic channels the momentum
and ease which our bilateral relations have
happily acquired.
My time in Peking has, I regret, been
far too short.
Nevertheless, our appetites
have been whetted by this chance to see some
of your magnificent sights.
I also very much
enjoyed visiting Peking University, one of
China's most famous seats of learning, and
meeting some of the Chinese and British students
there.
