A YEAR BOOK OF THE COMMONWEALTH 1983

at foli

I enclose three sets of page proofs of the Hong Kong

chapter as it appears in the 1982 edition of the Year Book and shall be grateful for your assistance in bringing the material up to date, returning one set only of the page proofs amended as appropriate, retaining the other two sets for your records, if you so desire.

2.

The proofs will of course be sent to Hong Kong & General Department for any necessary amendments to be inserted before final printing.

3. It is important that your revised material reaches me as soon as possible and in any case not later than 31 October 1982 so as to meet the printer's schedule which forms part of a contract agreed by the FCO and is not to be renegotiated. As the Year Book is compiled by the FCO, responsibility for the accuracy of the information contained therein and for meeting the printer's schedule lie with the Editor and with the posts abroad who supply the information. Please bear this in mind if you should consult outside sources about your revised entry.

4.

I should be grateful if you would make the amendments clearly and in typescript as had been done in previous years. Please re- type heavily amended pages and as far as possible submit your revised entry so amended that it can be passed straight to the printer without the need for further processing.

5.

I am copying this letter to Hong Kong & General Department. Yours sincerely

Encls
