to set up a reading room with literature on District Administration at new CNTA HQ.

Building Policy Committee

To advise on all matters concerning the efficient use of resources to achieve the overall objectives of

community building.

At the 15th meeting on 5.8.82 CBPC approved the extension of the Headmasters' Conference and the School Liaison Committee machinery to other districts and supported the establishment of the HK Youth Cultural & Arts Competition as a formal and permanent registered organisation financed by a trust fund.

(a) To review MACS/OCs and the

district committee machinery and decide future direction.

(b) To review the Summer

Youth Programme, input and roles of various departments concerned.

(c) To consider Yin Njai

Societies as a new machinery for community building.

(d) To discuss the future of

the Music & Speech Festival and Dance Festival.

*Fight Crime

Committee

(a) To plan and coordinate

efforts to assist the Police to combat crime.

(b) To keep under review

the state of crime and law enforcement, and advise on priorities as seen by the public.

(c) To identify causes of

crime.

(a) On the advice of FCC, district FCCs visited goldsmith and jewellery shops in the district and in conjunction with Crime Prevention Officers encouraged shop- keepers to strengthen their security arrangements. Some positive results were achieved.

The FCC will meet on 25.11.82 and will consider, among other things

(a) a theme or emphasis for Fight Crime in 1983-84;

(b) the need and feasibility of

a crime-related social

research remit;

(c) the 2nd Crime Victi:nization

Report.
