*(17) Shiɔping and Port Control (Amendment)

Bill 1982

To contain the growth of, and to control, dwelling boats in typhoon shelters.

ExCo approved the following proposals:

(a) that D of M should be

empowered to evict people on board unlicensed vessels before removing the latter from controlled areas;

(b) that the control measures

should be implemented in phases with the first phase covering the four typhoon shelters at Tsing Yi, Yau

Ma Tei, Tuen Mun and Cheung Chau; and

(c) that the Bill should be

introduced into LegCo with three readings in one sitting.

Drafting instructions are being prepared to give effect to the proposals in (a) and (b) above.

To enact the Bill and amending Regulations, and to implement the first phase of control.
