Purpose
To coordinate government action during major festivals to ensure
that adequate precau- tions and security arrangements are
made.
Progress Made & Present Position
Target for Next Quarter
The ad-hoc inter-departmental working group, chaired by Regional Secretary (Hong Kong & Kowloon), continued its deliberations.
To submit a paper to Governor's Security Committee in September.

Sha Tau Kok Redevelopment
To agree on a redevelop- ment strategy for Sha Tau Kok.
Project Manager (Tai Po and Fanling) is finalizing the draft layout plan for Sha Tau Kok. It is proposed that consultants should be employed to carry out a feasibility study and site investigation. A Public Works Sub-committee paper has been submitted to Finance Branch.
(a) The layout plan to
be finalized.
(b) To await financial
approval for provision of consultants' fee to carry out feasibility study and site investigation.
New Terri- tories
Coordination Committee
To coordinate social and physical development in the New Territories.
SCNTA assumed chairmanship of NTCC since May 1982. The Committee, at its meeting of 7.6.82, considered and agreed ways of industrial investment promotion in Tuen Mun, including the setting up of an Industrial Promotion Unit.
Major development plans which have been examined include, inter alia :
(a) Ma On Shan Development
(b) Junk Bay Development
(c) Fanling Development
To continue a systematic examination of impending development in the New Territories districts; to ensure proper community facilities are incorporated in the development process and that deficiencies are being rectified.
