To
ensure the implementation of the proposals.
(a)
FC approved the package of the control of Primary 1 admission, pupil record system, the lowering of the minimum permitted age of enrolment and the reduction of the maximum class size. Announcement of the control of Primary 1 admission has been made and a series of activities including seminars, distribution of publicity leaflets and posters are being arranged.

(b) An FCai proposing provision of free transport for children attending central primary schools, which will be set up in the New Territories to replace educationally inefficient, small, rural schools, been forwarded to FB. This proposal is considered necessary to provide an incentive for parents to send their children to central schools which may be at some distance from their homes.
