Furpose
To commence a local speech therapy training
course.
To clarify the role of sheltered workshops in the rehabilitation process; to re-examine subvention policy and incentive payments in the light of such clarifications.

Progress made and present position
Revised proposals from Hong Kong University are now under consideration by the UFGC. Since it is unlikely that a local course can begin before the end of the 1981/84 triennium, efforts are being made to train overseas more students in speech therapy.
The Working Party held its sixth meeting on 16 July 1982.
Next quarter target
To monitor progress.
To complete the review and prepare report.
Proposals of the Director of Education Action completed, have been endorsed by Rehabilitation Co-ordinating Committee and will be with a view to providingimplemented in September 1982.
