Recruitment of Administrative Officers 1982-83

In Hong Kong, 248 candidates shortlisted from
1998 applicants were invited to a preliminary interview
and 60 of them were selected for the final intensive
interviews which took place in April. The Board considered
32 candidates definitely suitable for appointment, of
whom 22 were deemed to have potential to reach Staff Grade
C level. The advice of the Public Service Commission
will be sought on the Board's report in May.

Interviews of 30 local candidates in London
and 3 in Boston are scheduled to be held in May. The
Chairman of the Hong Kong Selection Board, Mr. J.C.A. Hammond
will participate in these interviews.
The results are
expected to be known in June. The recruitment of overseas
candidates through CSC is in progress.
A total of 54
candidates who have passed or are exempted from the
Qualifying Test have expressed an interest in joining the
Administrative Service in Hong Kong. Among them, 20 have
given Hong Kong as their first preference and 34 have given
it as their second choice.
Overseas Recruitment

During the report period, 805 vacancies within
the purview of the Public Service Commission were advertised
locally, and on 30 April 1982, 349 posts were under
recruitment overseas.
During the same period, 68 newly
appointed officers (including 1 Police Inspector) assumed
duty from overseas.
