Protection of Trading Interests Act 1980

I am sorry it has taken so long to answer your original question. I am now writing to confirm that the Hong Kong Government does not wish the Protection of Trading Interests Act 1980 to be extended to Hong Kong at the present time.

In reaching this decision we understand that the Order in Council by which the provisions of the Shipping Contracts and Commercial Documents Act 1964 was extended to Hong Kong remains in force. We also understand that our decision would not deny Hong Kong the opportunity in future to ask for the 1980 Act to be extended to Hong Kong, should this be justified in the light of circumstances.
