The post should act as backstop to prevent duplication of

visits etc and call on FCO support as necessary. (8.36-37)

• 26. The FCO department concerned should be brought in at the

outset and kept informed thereafter. (8.38)

27. BDS (W) visitors should be discouraged from waiting for the

weekly RAF VC10 from Washington, once their business is completed.

28 BDS (W) should monitor the visiting programme to avoid duplication

Posts should always be allowed to take part in major meetings

involving visitors. (9.9)

30. Posts such as New Delhi should discourage junior visitors from

coming out during the (crowded) cool season. (9.20)
