As regards the Chinese University of Hong Kong, approval in principle was given to an academic building for

2 teaching and special subjects (1,650 m2 net) and Senior Staff Quarters Phase VIII (80 flats) and Phase IX (20 flats). Site investigation reports confirm that the sites for these projects are suitable for building without major geotechnical problems or remedial works. The Chinese University also under-estimated the cost ($5.943 million) of the academic building for the same reason as Hong Kong University's Estate Workshop Building extension; the revised estimate at mid 1980 prices should be -

The Chinese University further proposes to combine Senior Staff Quarters Phases VIII and IX at a cost of $61.169 million which is slightly less than the cost of $62.084 mill- ion if the two Phases are developed separately.

The timing remains unchanged. The estimate is made up as follows (mid 1980 prices).
