HKP Factual
The entry requirements for the HD in Chemical Technology are HKCE Grade C or above in English, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology. The HD in Chemical Technology is not yet offered so the actual position can only be surmised as similar to that for the existing HD in Applied Science. Exemption from year 1 is proposed for applicants from the Diploma in Chemical Technology with GPA 3. It is proposed to raise the minimum entry requirements for HD's at HKP to include one 'A' level pass.
HKBC Factual
The entry requirements for the Senior Diploma Programme are HKCE Grade C or above, plus Grade E in four other subjects including Chinese and English, and HKAL/GCE
'A' level in Chemistry and one other subject, preferably Mathematics.
HKBC Comment
The current entry (for 80/1) had a GPA of 3.2 at HKCE (average of the two highest five subjects) and 1.7 at HKAL (highest of two subjects).

General Nature of the Programme/Output
HKP Factual
The HD in Chemical Technology is a unit-credit scheme comprising purpose-designed units (expressed in objective format) which inter-lock and as a consequence have inherent pre-requisite specifications. There are two major options in food technology and process plant. Emphasis is laid on vocational skills, with theoretical principles and concepts included only insofar as they are needed to achieve the overall aims.
HKBC Factual
The Senior Diploma Programme is a unit-credit scheme which is broad and academic, comprising 38% "non-chemistry" and without highly developed or specific technical/vocational ("utilitarian") objectives.
