It shall be understood that schemes of assessment shall make provision for the engagement of External Examiners broadly in line with UK practice. If requested by the UPGC
the CNAA will comment upon the suitability of the persons it is proposed shall be appointed as External Examiners for particular courses.
Conditions of Approval
It is in the nature of the validation process. that CNAA is not always in a position to give absolute clearance to a programme as presented; it is often able to report favourably as to standards provided that certain conditions can be met. The implications of meeting those conditions will be matters for the Polytechnic, UPGC, and the funding structure in Hong Kong. CNAA will, as part of its continuing validation support, advise UPGC whether it is satisfied that such conditions have been met. The UPGC will only advise the Governor-in-Council to grant authority to the Polytechnic to award degrees to students who successfully complete that course when it has advice from the CNAA that any conditions advised by the CNAA have been satisfactorily met.
