INTRODUCTION
Members of the CNAA visting party had discussed the programmes to be offered at Lingnan College at a meeting in London. They found the papers describing the new 2+2+1 structure of the Diploma courses a sufficient basis for further consideration to assess their standard in relation to comparator courses at the Polytechnic, but there was insufficient detail in the papers presented to give tham a really clear picture of the College's intentions or the level at which the courses would be offered.
Following an initial briefing from the President, members moved to a meeting with the senior staff of the Faculty of Business. They were presented with a new set of papers which had been designed and developed by the newly appointed Dean of the Faculty. These described the three senior years as a B.A. Business Studies in which it would be possible for a student to follow specialisations in Accounting, Marketing, Management and Secretarial Studies. The newly developed papers had, however, not been discussed with or seen by the staff of the Faculty and came as something of a surprise to them.

The course was described as having the dual aims of preparing students for a variety of activities in business and related fields by offering a broad based general business education with opportunities for
