Immigration Ordinance (Chapter 115) IMMIGRATION (AMENDMENT) BILL 1981 IMMIGRATION (AMENDMENT

(CR 59/4821/79 II)

REGULATIONS 1981

The Council considered memoranda XCC (81)46 and 46A.

The Council ADVISED and the Governor ORDERED:

(a)

that the Immigration (Amendment) Bill 1981

(b)

(c)

at Annex A to the memorandum should be

introduced into the Legislative Council; that the Immigration (Amendment) Regulations

1981 at Annex B to the memorandum should

be approved in principle and should be

made as soon as the bill is enacted and

without having to re-submit them to Members;

and

that the Secretary for Security should give

consideration, after consultation with the

ÚNHCR Commissioner in the first instance,

to the feasibility of repatriating those

refugees who refuse resettlement offers.
