In addition to this we have 3,686 Vietnamese, mostly of ethnic Chinese origin, who were settled in China who are still awaiting repatriation. 364 and 537 of these arrived this April and May respectively. This disturbing trend is continuing in June.

As its contribution to the solution of the Vietnamese refugee problem, Hong Kong continues to provide facilities for first asylum.. However, it requires more resettlement places than are currently on offer so that the number of refugees in Hong Kong can be reduced.
