Rodifications suggested for the proposed scheme

(a) Sickness benefits

The two relatively more common suggestions were: (1) the scheme to

provide income allowance to participants sick for more than four months;

(2) the income allowance provided by the scheme should exceed half of

their monthly salary. (page 50)

Retirement benefits

The two relatively more common suggestions were: (1) the lump sum

payable on retirement should exceed six months' salary; (2) the

retirement benefits should increase proportionally with the period of

participation. (page 52)

(d) Housing loan facilities

The two relatively more common suggestions were: (1) to increase

the maximum amount of loan; (2) the interest rate should be low. (page 53)

Level of contribution

55.9% were not prepared to pay more than 2% of their salary as

contribution even if the modifications they suggested to the scheme were

implemented. As regards those willing to pay more, the maximum percentage

of salary they were prepared to pay as contribution averaged 5.3%. (page 54)

Sharing of responsibility

(a) Sickness benefits

43.1% considered that the employer should shoulder the full

responsibility.

47.2% considered that such responsibility should be shared

between employer and employee. (page 55)

(b) Retirement benefits

56.2% considered that the employer should shoulder the full

responsibility.

33.5% considered that such responsibility should be shared between

employer and employee. (page 55)
