Mr. Liu said he was aware of past discussions on the merits of a

new bridge at Lok Ma Chau rather than Man Kain To. Indeed, he had been present (as had Mr. Webb) when the Political Adviser discussed the matter with the Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. Huang Shimin, in January. Mr. Liu agreed that the authorities in Guangzhou attached first priority to a

bridge at Lok Ma Chau. Nevertheless these same authorities had approved

Shenzhen's choice of the site for the new facilities at Man Kam To.
