Thank you for your letter of 18 November, enclosing a
copy of a press release from the Hong Kong Reform Club about
the future of Hong Kong.
I am,
of course, aware of the close interest in Hong Kong
about this and I do ensure that all views expressed there are
examined very carefully.
I should point out that the views expressed by Mr. Alfred
Sherman, as
as I am sure he would be the first to say, are entirely
his own, and did not represent "a semi-official opinion or
decision by the British Government".
