5. China National Light Industrial Products

It was reported on March 3, 1981 that Hua Yuan, the Hong Kong agent for China National Light Industrial Products, had gone into a joint venture with a local electronics manufacturer, Tele-Art, to produce integrated electronic micro-circuits of the Tai Po Industrial Estate.

This was the first time that China had invested in the local light industry.

The joint venture, Hua Ko Electronic, had an initial capital of $60 million and equity was split equally between Hua Yuan and Tele-Art.

The factory would be in production by November this year and would be capable of producing one million circuit components a month when operating at full capacity, a Hua Ko executive said.

All the micro-circuits produced by the joint venture would be used by local electronic plants.

6. China Construction & Engineering Company

The China Construction and Engineering Company ( 中國建築工程公司) was set up in early 1977 as a contractor for construction work outside China. It mainly engages in surveys and designs of construction projects and the installation of equipment. It also advises on labour and technical matters.

The company has set up branch offices in North Yemen, Iraq, Kuwait, Thailand, Hong Kong and Macau.

In the past two years, the company has opened six construction and land companies in partnership with businessmen from Hong Kong, Macau and other territories.

7. China Machinery Equipment Import & Export Main Office

The Wah Shing Cheung Machinery Company Limited (華盛昌機械企業有限公司), jointly operated by the China Machinery Equipment Import and Export Main Office

( 中國機械設備進出口總公司) and the Hong Kong Ng Ping Cheung Company Limited (BA), has obtained approval by the Chinese authorities to register in Hong Kong.

The joint company will engage in market research, campaigns and exhibitions to promote Chinese machinery. It will also assemble machinery.

8. China Precision Machinery Import & Export Corporation
