Speaking on his acquisition of HK & Kowloon Wharf, he said the reason is very simple. Like other people in Hong Kong, he commits himself to Hong Kong's future. Commenting on the acquisition of overseas enterprises

by the Hong Kong textile, shipping and banking corporations, he said that only reflects the extent of the actual economic strength that has been built up in Hong Kong. With those investments, the Hong Kong companies are now

His conclusions are :

If all are concerned about maintaining HK's progress, its social stability and economic prosperity, then HK would have a role to play for much longer than 16 years.

The Hong Kong Government will adopt a pragmatic and laissez-

faire economic policy.

Hong Kong will step by step expand its international participation and investment, even should there be hindrances, it will work unremittingly towards that

goal.
