More than 50% wish to emigrate

Of those who wished to emigrate, 6.7% said if they were not qualified, they would lock for other channels to emigrate 3.3% would seek illegal immigration; 6.7% would apply as refugees; the rest 10% would stay.

More than 46% of the interviewees wished the UK to continue to rule HK after. 1997 because they liked the existing status to be maintained. One of them attributed HK's prosperity to British rule,

20% wish HK to become. independent

More than 20 of the interviewees wished HK to become independent. However, some of them preferred HK becoming an "independent city", which would still belong to China, but HK should have its own executive and legislative power.
