1. Mr Ronnie Bloom gave Mr McLaren and me lunch yesterday to introduce

us to Mr John Wu of Trafalgar Housing Ltd. Also present were Mr Banks,

Mr Wu's assistant, and Mr Raymond Hung of the Wai Tak Land Investment

and Loan Co.

2. Mr Wu mentioned the talks which he had had in Peking in January,

on which we have already received reports. His main theme was the

importance of involving the Chinese authorities, through China

Resources, in developments, particularly in the residential field

which would require customers to invest beyond 1997, thus forcing the

Chinese themselves to face up to the problem.

3. The conversation ranged widely over this general theme but produced

no new information on Mr Wu's activities.

4. I attach a copy of the Tin Shui Wai brochure.
