:
Many thanks for your letter of 29th April and I am glad that you found the poem by Ai Qing on "Hong Kong" of interest.
My talk at the Foreign Correspondents Club here on Tuesday, 12th May on the topic "Hong Kong Now and Forever" giving a few purely personal views was ex- tremely well received. In fact the Club President told me there had never been a bigger luncheon crowd. This perhaps was an indication of the concern the whole community here feels over an issue which has far-reaching effects all around.
I believe you might like to have a copy of the talk and this I am pleased to enclose.
With warmest regards,
Encl.
