Dear Kry,

I have been asked to thank you for your letter of 12 May to Mr Blaker.

As you may know, Mr Ridley has taken over Mr Blaker's responsibilities within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for Hong Kong Unfortunately, Mr Ridley will be abroad

I have therefore during the week beginning 14 September. made provisional arrangement for Mr Cheong-Leen and the other Urban Councillors to see Sir Edward Youde, the Deputy to the Permanent Under-Secretary with responsibility for Far Eastern matters. The call is at present timed for 11.00 am on 16 September, which I hope will be convenient. I will write again when I have confirmed this with Sir Edward who is on leave at present.
