In addition to industry in the New Territories, I would like to take the opportunity of getting more understanding of commercial and industrial prospects in the Territory, including the basis for commercial confidence. It is difficult for me to suggest the right people to approach on this. I would welcome rounds with the main Hongs and Banks which I have done in the past. Are there other industrial and commercial figures whom I could usefully see?

I would welcome an opportunity to see Lydia Dunn and T S Lo.
a visit and I have in the past undertaken to see the latter on was not able to fit it in. It would also be nice to see Professor Ma Meng, my old teacher, and the Pong family. I know it is very difficult but I would very much like to offer hospitality to all these people if it can be arranged for me to take them out for a meal. If at all possible, I would also like a chance to see the Robin Masefields and the Peter Webbs.
10. All this looks the usual problem of cramming too much into
a short time. I am very sorry to put this task on those concerned, including Tony Miller at Government House. I know, however, that they are very expert at producing the right mixture.
