Dear lan
International Arbitration Conference

Hong Kong
W24
The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators is arranging an International Arbitration Conference in Hong Kong in October of this year. Lord Justice Donaldson is President
of the Institute and has been invited to attend and deliver a "key paper". I understand that the Governor of the Colony and the Chief Justice are likely to take part.
Lord Justice Donaldson has accepted the invitation and proposes to combine it with visits to Bangkok and Singapore. He will be leaving London on the 1st October and will spend the 3rd and 4th in Bangkok before going on to Hong Kong, where the Conference will take place from the 7th to the 10th October inclusive. Lord Justice Donaldson will, on the way back, attend an Arbitration Seminar in Singapore on the 14th October.
Lord Justice Donaldson would be grateful if you and Bill Beckett (to whom I am sending a copy of this letter) could advise him of any special points that you would like to bring to his attention or let him know of any way in which you think his visit to the Far East might be made useful for the purpose of U.K. trade in the countries involved and whether
there are any personalities there whom he ought particularly to try to meet to talk about these matters.
Sir Ian Sinclair, K.C.M.G., Q.C.
Your sincerely
Withes Banne
