VISIT OF LORD JUSTICE DONALDSON TO BANGKO HONG KONG SINGAPORE:
OCTOBER 1981
1. I attach a letter I have just received from Sir Wilfrid Bourne in the Lord Chancellor's Office, together with a copy of my interim reply, about a visit which Lord Justice Donaldson intends to make to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore between 1 and 14 October this year.
2. As you will see, Lord Justice Donaldson has asked whether there are any special points that we would wish to bring to his attention in connection with this visit, and has asked in particular if we could advise him of any way in which his visit to the Far East could be made useful for the purpose of UK trade in the countries concerned. Lord Justice Donaldson is one of the leading experts in this country on commercial law and on international commercial arbitration.
3. You will no doubt wish to consult Bangkok and Singapore about the possibilities; and Mr Clift may equally wish to consult Hong Kong.
4.
As you will see from the interim reply which I have sent to Sir W Bourne, I have indicated that I will write to him again in due course.
