Progress Made and Present Position

Drafts of 6 additional legislative items to make provisions principally for the holding of the first District. Board elections in the New Territories in March 1982 are nearing completion and will be submitted to Executive Council for consideration in mid- November 1981. The items involved are: District Boards (Amendment) Bill 1981, Elections (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 1981, Electoral Provisions

(Procedure) Regulations 1981, Urban Council and District Boards Election Expenses Order 1981, Heung Yee Kuk Election Expenses Order 1981 and Post Office (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations

Detailed arrangements in preparation for the holding of the First District Board elections in the New Territories in March 1982 and for another registration of electors exercise in -March/April 1982 were continuing.
