To hive off KCR from the Government and to determine the future organization.

(a) Proposal to hive off KCR

has been agreed by FxCo in September.

(b) A Steering Group on the

Reorganization of KCR has been set up in September and has met three times since then.

(c) The appointment of a

Transitional KCR Board is under consideration.

Next Quarter Targets

Appoint the Transitional KCR Board.

4. MTR Island

Line

To co-ordinate Government inputs into the construction of the Island Line, to resolve any conflicts arising out of its construction, and to ensure that optimum traffic management arrangements-are devised to facilitate the construction of the Island and other major projects in the Island Eastern Corridor.

(a) A meeting of the

Reference Committee was held in October to consider the Corporation's cost saving proposals for the Island Lines. The proposals will bet considered by ExCo in early November.

(b) Government/MTR

Consultative Group continued to meet monthly under the alternative chairmanship of

S for T and

Chairman of MTRC.
