Development
Purpose
To set up in stages a Selective Placement Unit so that the Labour · Department can begin to take over responsibility for placing disabled job-seekers in employ- ment in mid-1980.

The Hong Kong Office of the Selective Placement Unit was opened on 7 July 1980. The Kowloon Office will be set up by the end of 1981. The Labour Department will take over the employment placement for the mentally handicapped from S.W.D. in 1982/83 (Stage II) and the socially handicapped from voluntary agencies in 1984 (Stage III).
