whether an
international airport to replace Kai Tak should be constructed at Chek Lap Kok.

(g) that CAAC's application for extra
sections between various Chinese cities and HK during February should be approved, and that CAAC's permits for scheduled services between the four Chinese services and HK, should be renewed for the summer season.
Implementation of the programme of further studies, investigations and planning has continued. Details of the contract for the airport master plan study have been agreed with the selected consultant, and it is expected that the contract will be signed in early February. Implementation of other parts of the programme also continues on schedule.
(ii) A further memorandum on the idea of
constructing the replacement air- port in China, incorporating the views of both FCO and British Embassy Peking, will be considered by ExCo on 17 February.
To sign contracts with the selected consultants and otherwise implement the pro- gramme.
To take further action as necessary in the light of the ExCo decision.
