To implement the ASA and Regional Routes CMU.
(i) Talks held in Peking from 26 to 28
January resulted in a breaking of the deadlock, at least temporarily, on the HK/Shanghai route problem.
(ii) It was agreed :
a) that CPA could resume scheduled
services (two B 707 or one Tristar return flights per week) between HK and Shanghai from 15 February to the end of October 1981;
(b) that the Regional Routes CMU would
be amended by an exchange of letters;
(c) that talks would be held in London
on the Chinese proposal for CAAC to route services with rights via HK to and from USA, but as part of a wider package in which both British and Chinese interests are satisfied, at a date to be arranged;
(a) that CPA and CAAC will enter into a commercial agreement on HK/ Shanghai services;
(e) that CAAC would also resume
scheduled services between Shanghai/HK on 15 February;
(f) that charter services should
operate between the end of January and 15 February;
To implement the agreement reached in Peking.
