Community Information Unit

Purpose

To implement the recommen- dations in the Wiggham Reports on Community Information by establishing and staffing a Community Information Unit.

Progress Made and Present Position

Next Quarter Target

(a) Proposed surveys on

public attitudes and on needs of senior Government officers for community information have been endorsed by CSC in November;

(b) Departmental feedback

on specific issues had been received, but not to the extent desired by the Community Information Unit;

(c) The division of res-

ponsibilities between CIU and HAD in the area of information col- lection and assessment has been discussed with HAD on two occasions and a large measure of agreement has been reached;

(d) The Community In-

formation Unit has been established for eight months and a review of its functions will be due in April.

(a) To start preliminary

work on the attitudes survey and to report on the findings of the survey on the needs of senior Government officers for community information;

(b) To continue to search for ways and means of improving feedback;

(c) To hold further

discussions with HAD in the light of develop- ments in district administration;

(d) To review the functions

of the CIU.
