Progress made and present position

The Director of Education has given further consideration to the more complex items in the proposals originally submitted for approval in XCC(80 87. A second Executive Council Memorandum is now being prepared.

The

(a) Action is continuing on all of the Advisory

Committee on Diversification (ACD) recommendations on Industrial Training views of the Hong Kong Training Council have been sought on the proposal to establish a statutory Industrial Training Authority and the Council has agreed to its advisory functions being included in the proposed statutory body, but has suggested that the body be called the Hong Kong Training Jouncil.

(b) views of the Training Council and of UPGC

are being sought on the future management and control of the Technical Institutes in the light of ACD's observations.

(c) Two sites have been identified for use by

the Hong Kong Training Council for training centre complexes, one in Kwai Chung and the other in Kowloon Bay.

(a) The Pharmacy and Poisons (Amendment) Regulations 1980 and the Poisons List (Amendment) Regulations 1980 were approved by the Legislative Council by resolution on 17 December 1980.

(b) The Pharmacy and Poisons (Appeal)

Regulations 1980 were approved by the Governor on 15 December 1980.

To finalise decision on the new statutory body and prepare drafting instructions for the legislation required. Prepare progress report for Executive Council on ACD recommendations.
