Has been member of the Silver Jubilee Steering Committee; Duke of Edinburgh Awards Committee and the David Trench Fund for Recreation Advisory Committee as well as President of the Asian Tennis Federation and active leader of a large number of sports and recreation clubs and associations.

Appointed member of the Urban Council since 1973. Has been particularly active in recreational and cultural affairs of the Council; current Chairman of the Council's Cultural Affairs Select Committee as well as Vice-Chairman of the Recreation and Amenities Select Committee and Member of the Cultural Complex and Indoor Stadia Sub-committee and Recreation Activities Sub-committee etc. An active member of the Council for Recreation and Sports as well as Chairman and leading advisor of a variety of sports clubs and associations, ranging from football to canoeing.

A self-made businessman of Shanghai origin, Mr. Hu is interested in the development of recreation and sports where he has been an active influential personality for many years. He is an energetic committee man with a practical and down-to-earth approach.
