CAPITAL PUNISHMENT

I was glad to have had the opportunity to talk to you during your visit and to hear your views on the various topics which you raised. I shall certainly study the two points about which you expressed concern in connection with the Nationality Bill and the other matters which you raised. I have as you know been very tied up recently, particularly over the problems of Belize. I am only now able to start focussing on the important issues of Hong Kong.

I heard with interest your views on the sensitive issue of capital punishment. I shall, as I promised, reflect on this matter also and discuss it with the Governor. I hope when I come to Hong Kong in November to be able to go into all of these questions.
