REVISION OF COLONIAL REGULATIONS: ESSENTIAL FACTS
1.
Following discussion at the Governors' Conference in 1979,
it was agreed that the FCO would review existing Colonial
Regulations to see which sections needed deletion or redrafting.
2.
Against the background of staff cuts, it has not been possible
to undertake this task, nor is there any likelihood of it being
tackled in the department in the foreseeable future. It is not,
in any case, a pressing problem but would be a useful tidying up
exercise to be undertaken at some stage. When funds are available,
it might be appropriate to contract an ex-HMOCS officer to
undertake the work on a part-time basis.
