LETTER OF APPOINTMENT ON SECONDMENT TO HONG KONG
1.
Thank you for showing me the attached papers KA 431/343/3 relating to Dr Wilson's letter of appointment.
In general I should be content with a letter on the lines of the one issued to Dr Wilson amended to take account of the various points made in the subsequent correspondence. Perhaps I could see a copy of the revised model draft leter; there is not one on the file. I will comment further if there are any points not covered in the revision.
2.
There is one point I should like to get clarified with the Hong Kong government in advance. Because I have children at boarding school it is important that I should be able to take my (effectively)
annual leave to coincide with their summer holidays. So although I shall not be taking up my appointment until October this year I should wish to take my first leave from Hong Kong in the summer of 1982. The precise timing will of course have to be settled nearer the time but I should like to get it agreed now that there will be no theoretical objection to my taking leave after only 9 months in the post.
