PQS: HONG KONG: CIVIL SERVICE DISPUTES

1. I submit draft answers and a background note to eight PQs

put down by Mr Robert Parry MP (Liverpool, Scotland Exchange

Labour) for answer on 7 and 8 August.

2. Mr Parry takes a strong and very critical interest in Hong

Kong matters and has put down more than 50 PQs on them so far

this year.

The present Questions have been inspired by five

members of the Hong Kong Civil Servants General Union who are at

present in this country.

3. The draft Answers are based on information supplied by the

Hong Kong Government.

4. The Legal Adviser concurs, as does the Overseas Labour Adviser.
