Extension of Welfare Class Review

to the Voluntary Sector

Hong Kong Social Workers' General Union

I refer to your letter of June 26, 1980. The decision to allow the Hong Kong Social Workers' General Union to present their views in person to the Working Group was taken by the department in the light of the Union's representation to UMELCO. However, since my letter of 23 June 1980, the department has been requested to meet representatives of the Union in order to discuss this and other issues of concern. The department proposes to accede to the Union's request and the Union has confirood that in the circumstances it would not vich to meet the Working Group. Accordingly no action need be taken on my letter of 23 June 1980.
