By train to Leverkusen to speak to about 150 members of the "Deutscher Frauenring E.V." who for more than 10 years have financially supported my agency. They are now collecting money for the various activities in the Sham Shui Po Centre.
I met Mr. Ulrich Greweb who introduced himself as the representative
an organization "Arbeitskreis Vietnam E.V.". They are interested to support projects for Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong.

9.30 a.m.: Meeting with Mr. Breuer, Director of the organization "Vietnam Hilfe", founded and supported by two well-known and influen- tial CDU members of the Bundestag. One of them is Herr von Pieroth(?), a famous wine grower in Germany with an active branch office in Hong Kong. Mr. Breuer did not give me details about the objectives of his organization. It seems that they attempt to represent the interests of Vietnamese refugees in Germany and are trying to put pressure upon government to increase the quota. I sensed that government is not too cooperative and may be not too happy about the organization as such.
No reasons were given. They have received considerable donations and are willing to support projects in Hong Kong. They are also involved in giving legal aid to Vietnamese refugees and to assist in family reunion.
12.30 p.m.:
Luncheon meeting with Mr. Köster MdB (CDU) Obmann im
Unterausschuss fuer Humanitäre Hilfe. I met Mr. Köster together with other members of the Bundestag in Hong Kong in 1979.
Mr. Köster is an outspoken and committed person. He complained that the Auswärtige Amt only reluctantly provides facts and figures about the present quota situation. The family reunion issue which now deals with relatives of 1st and 2nd degree relatives only, is a smoke screen which distorts the actual situation. He is opposed to the present system which includes into the quota those refugees which are being picked up by the German refugee boat off the coast of Vietnam, now over 800 persons.
